Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

CookSomething is operated by Brian Coleman ("we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the app and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Account details: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
  • Content you create: recipes, recipe photos, favorites, meal plans, shopping lists and recently viewed recipes.
  • Website links you choose to import recipes from.
  • Basic technical data needed to run the service, such as device and browser type and error reports.

How we use it

  • To sign you in and keep your data synced across your devices.
  • To provide features like meal planning, shopping lists and recipe import.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Storage and sharing

Your data is stored with our cloud hosting provider. Your personal recipes and photos are private to your account. Google is used only if you choose to sign in with Google. We may disclose information if required by law.

Offline copies

When you choose screenshot import, the image is sent to an AI processing service to extract recipe text. The image is also saved privately in your account. Review the extracted recipe before saving; automated extraction can make mistakes.

To work without internet, the app keeps a copy of recently viewed recipes and your shopping list on your device. Signing out clears it.

Your choices

  • You can edit or delete your recipes and plans at any time.
  • You can permanently delete your account and all its data from the account menu ("Delete account").
  • You can contact us to request a copy of your data.

Children

CookSomething is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
